Some Questions and Answers

Q: Why do the size and pitch have a yellow background?
A: The standards supported by this program specify preferred sizes and pitches and combinations. A yellow background merely indicates that the combination you entered is not a preferred one. This serves as warning that you may not have intended to enter that size and pitch. Otherwise, there is no effect on program function.

Q: Why do some of the displayed values have a red background?
A: The program uses that to indicate invalid numbers, such as a maximum coating thickness less than the minimum, or any negative value for a dimension or tolerance.

Q: What does it mean when the program says that the dimensions are CALCULATED or TABULATED?
A: "CALCULATED" means that the dimensions are determined using formulas specified by an appropriate standard. This calculation may include the use of tables of tolerances etc for various ranges of size. "TABULATED" means that the pitch diameters are drawn directly from tables in the standard. Major and minor diameters may also be from such tables, but in some cases are calculated. In case of doubt, consult the standard.
